Ukraine
Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe, known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and fertile lands. It is the second largest country in Europe by area, after Russia, and shares borders with countries including Poland, Romania, Hungary, and Russia. Kyiv, its capital, is one of the oldest cities in Eastern Europe and has long been a cultural and political center.

Ukraine boasts diverse landscapes from the Carpathian Mountains in the west to the vast steppes and the Black Sea coastline in the south. The Dnipro River, one of Europe’s major rivers, flows through the heart of the country and plays a vital role in agriculture and transportation.
Historically, Ukraine was part of various empires, including the Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the Soviet Union. It gained independence in 1991 following the Soviet collapse. Since then, Ukraine has pursued closer ties with Western Europe while facing challenges, particularly tensions and conflict with Russia, most notably the 2014 annexation of Crimea and the full-scale invasion launched in 2022.
Despite these hardships, Ukraine has shown strong resilience. Its people are known for their deep patriotism, rich traditions in music, dance, and folk art, and a strong agricultural economy earning it the nickname “the breadbasket of Europe.”
Ukrainian culture blends Slavic roots with European influences, and the Ukrainian language is a key part of its national identity. Today, Ukraine is striving for a democratic future, modernization, and integration with European institutions.
